I love the whole idea of Victorian women as explorers, the era certainly gave rise to plenty of 'em. Been meaning to read more about Freya Stark and Gertrude Bell. But these books you've featured look great!
I will definitely add them to my TBR list!
And the LIFE IN THE ENGLISH COUNTRYHOUSE one looks like something right up my alley. Got lots of books on the theme and, as they say, 'too much is never enough'. ;)

Thanks, the two Margaret Fountaine books started me thinking about possible gifts for my stepmother, and I think I've found something she'll like. That's one more done (bit of a struggle this year as we aren't getting any post and I am now restricted to places that will send direct).

A lovely surprise, and wonderful to be recommended by someone with such good taste - thank you Catherine! Will be checking out the others...

THanks for your comments Yvette and GeraniumC. I glad you found something to like.

And Fiona, you're very, very welcome. I have taken my own advice and bought a close friend a copy of your book for her birthday. I hope she enjoys it as much as I did. If your reviewers start buying the book to give away you must be doing something right!
